Buffered VPN is one of the fastest growing VPN providers for safe browsing and surfing in the world. With hundreds of servers in 36 countries and regularly new ones added.

Founded in 2013 in Hungary with a mission to make the internet a less restricted place, Buffered is a staunch advocate for internet freedom and online security as well as a financial supporter of many non-profit organizations who are fighting to protect these rights.

How It Works

Just like other VPN providers, Buffered requires the installation of basic client software, which allows customers to connect to their private network. After running the software, users are able to choose their required settings and find a server they wish to connect to, in a clear ‘straight-forward’ easy to use app.

Upon connecting, internet traffic is tunneled through a server and the user also takes on the server’s IP address, making them anonymous online. Their true location will also be obscured and their online activity will appear as if it is originating from the server. This can be used to access content which is usually geo-restricted.

In addition to this, all internet data is encrypted, giving the user an extra level of security. The encryption ensures that all online activity is safe from unwanted snooping, hacking or other threats. In fact, even ISPs will be unable to monitor internet activity while using the service.

The Client:

Buffered protects your online data by providing an encryption tunnel between your device and their VPN servers. This tunnel encrypts data and information being sent and received to and from the internet, in order to safeguard your data from individuals and organization that tries to steal or hack information about your browsing activities.

Buffered also prevents governments, organizations and ISPs from throttling your connection speed and restricting your online access by hiding your traffic from their inspections. This allows you to access your favorite sites without worrying about being blocked or redirected from it.

Furthermore, Buffered conceals your online identity and location from phishers, hackers and other malicious individuals by substituting your IP address with their own IP address. This process allows you to surf the internet privately and anonymously.

Buffered VPN services are currently compatible with a number of different devices and operating systems, ranging from PCs and Macs to tablets and mobile phones.  Ease ‘plug and play’ apps are available for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10, Max OSx and Linux, where mobile phones and tablets can be connected to their network after a manual setup.

A complete list of all of the available setup tutorials can be found by visiting their website.

Security and servers

Buffered uses PPTP, L2TP/IPsec, and OpenVPN with a 256-bit Blowfish encryption to military standards. The advantages of this encryption type are:

  • Blowfish encryption is very efficient. That’s because its design allows it to run without having to eat up too much memory. Thus, there are no chances our users will have to deal with any noticeable drops in performance because of the encryption.
  • Blowfish encryption features a fairly straightforward design. Not only is it memory-efficient, but it also doesn’t suffer from any implementation errors. Why? Because Blowfish encryption only relies on operations that are not needlessly complex.
  • Blowfish encryption is surprisingly fast. Many people like to point that this kind of encryption is rather old. However, the truth is far from it – Blowfish has kept up with the latest tech changes! It’s easy to see that when you consider the fact that it features a very decent encryption speed.

Moreover Buffered VPN does not store any logging’s of users.

Conclusion

Buffered VPN is a basic, straight forward and no-nonsense VPN provider. And that is what we like. The apps are easy to install and the user interface is pretty convenient to use.

We also like their built-in download speed tester, but do not expect to many features. You can not rely on watching Netflix, but you can rely on their VPN connection. Afterall that is where it is about. They deliver bandwidth and a very safe encryption method.

In matter of a decent virtual private network, you should definitely go for Buffered VPN, despite their high price. If you go for handy features and special needs, you should look further.
